The Loras College men's basketball team fell to 4-9 on Wednesday night with an Iowa Conference loss to Buena Vista, 81-67.

Tim Kelly came off the bench to score 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting and added five rebounds to his stat line. Big man Dan Pawelski wasn't far behind with 14 points for Loras, who never led during the game. No other Duhawks scored more than six points - Mooney, Gleason, and Handsaker - but the Duhawks did shoot a steady 42% from the field.

Buena Vista made 18 first half baskets, including seven from long distance to set the pace early and take control. Jeff Janssen came off the bench to score a game high 20 points for the Beavers. As a team, the visitors made 12-of-25 three pointers and seven of their first ten.

Loras had the BVU lead down to 12 twice, but the visitors maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half in moving their record to 3-1 in the young Iowa Conference season. The Duhawks fell to 1-3. Loras was +17 in the rebounding column but the visitors turned the ball over just 10 times to Loras' 22. Buena Vista earned 43 of their 81 points off the bench.

Loras will be back in the AWC on Saturday afternoon when they host Cornell College (6-7, 1-3). Tipoff is 4:00 PM.
