Young becomes Loras' second NSCAA All-American

Kate Young became the second All-American in Loras College women's soccer program history this week.

Kate Young, a junior from Roscoe, Illinois matched her career high from her sophomore season with 12 goals in 2010 and has found the back of the net 29 times in three seasons. The Duhawks went 22-1-1 in 2010, their best season in program history on their way to the NCAA Division III Sectionals (Sweet 16) round of the 2010 tournament. Young was the Iowa Conference's MVP in 2010 and is a two-time first team All-IIAC selection. She moved into third on Loras' all-time points list (82), goals list (29), and fifth on the assists list (24).

Michelle Wieser (2004) earned the All-American status as well.

Young was a First Team All-North Region selection this year as well. Joining her on that post season team were senior defender Kelly Murphy and junior midfielder Jessica Kern. Murphy and Kern were each second team picks. Each were first team All-Iowa Conference selections this year as well. Kern posted a team high 15 assists - the third best single season in the program's history.

Loras went 22-1-1 in 2010 - the best season in program history - and advanced to the sectionals (Sweet 16) of the NCAA Division III Championships.
