Tue, Nov. 16, 2010 - [Women's Basketball]

The Loras College women's basketball team started the 2010-11 basketball season with a 59-53 loss to the UW-Oshkosh Titans.

Melissa Herrmann led a trio of Duhawks in double figures with a career high 19 points. Lindsey LaBadie added 14 points and three assists and Alex Hudson added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Duhawks.

Loras earned a ten point halftime lead on 44% shooting, but Oshkosh quickly chipped away at the lead in the second half. A three pointer by Katie Kitzke with just over ten minutes to go in the game was the only lead change of the second half. Oshkosh opened a lead to as many as nine points as the Duhawks struggled on the offensive end of the floor. The Titans also had three players in double figures.

Loras won the turnover battle significantly, 27-18, but also were (-)13 in rebounding margin and put the Titans in the bonus early in the second half.

Of Loras' 53 points, 18 came off the bench compared to eight of the Titans' 59.

The Duhawks will head to the Lakeland College tournament this weekend and take on the University of Chicago at 8:00 PM, with Saturday's opponent yet to be determined.
