The Loras College football team returned to the win column on Saturday with a convincing 37-12 win over the Cornell College Rams.

The offense produced their best point total of the season, besting their Week 2 effort against Rockford College by six points. Junior quarterback Vaughn Gesing threw for a season high three touchdowns and completed passes to five different receivers. Gesing's three touchdowns were for 19 yards (Walt Labuz), 17 yards (John Ingersoll), 15 yards (Gavin Kaiser). Gesing was not sacked on Saturday.

On the ground, the offense netted 138 yards, including 62 of those and two touchdowns by Matt Hillard. Gavin Kaiser took the ball once for 30 yards and Ryan Baez added 25 on 10 carries.

In total, the Duhawks scored on six of seven trips to the red zone, only punted four times, and did not turn the ball over.

The defense allowed 270 yards, which works out to less than four yards per play. Nick Lloyd and Ryan Piechocinksi intercepted passes and Loras also recovered three fumbles and added six tackles for loss, including three sacks. Cody Snitker, Jasper Henderson, and Ben Coleman registered the sacks.

The Duhawks led 14-0 after one quarter, 27-6 at halftime, and 30-6 after three quarters. Andrew Burdick and Charles McDonald each ran in from one yard out to put the Rams on the scoreboard. The Rams failed to convert a kick on one point-after situation and failed to complete a pass in the other.

Loras wraps up the season in the Rock Bowl on Saturday against the Luther College Norse. A win will put the Duhawks at .500 in both the IIAC and overall. Saturday's game will also include the pre-game Senior Day festivities. Kickoff is 1:00 PM. The game will air live online via and the Game Central tab and live on AM-1490 WDBQ.
