After falling down 1-0 and giving up a 2-1 lead, the Loras College Duhawks prevailed in the end over the Dubuque Spartans, 3-2 on Friday afternoon.

After a scoreless opening first half, the teams struck early and often in their respective attempts to claim the semifinal win.

Loras goalkeeper Dan Wickman was ruled to have crossed the goal line during a rare play where his momentum took him backwards toward the goal line to give Dubuque a 1-0 lead early in the second half.

Eleven minutes later Kevin Cavers equalized - taking a Miguel Bonilla pass and finding the back of the net. Loras took the lead four minutes after that when Miguel scored a goal of his own (pictured). Chris Comstock combined with Bonilla to make the second Loras goal happen.

Just four minutes Loras' second goal proved important as the Spartans were awarded a penalty kick. Colin Brice converted to make it 2-2. But Bonilla, a senior co-captain, wouldn't go that quietly.

Teammate and childhood friend of Bonilla's, Camilo Garces - also from Cali, Colombia - found Bonilla waiting for a pass in a dangerous spot. With 9 minutes remaining, Bonilla beat Nick Kasper in the Dubuque goal to make it 3-2 from the edge of the six yard box.

Loras' win puts them into the Iowa Conference Tournament finals against Wartburg College at 7:00 PM. The Knights defeated Central 2-1 on Friday night, and also defeated the Duhawks 1-0 back on October 8.
