Tumberger, Loras knock out Norse

A pair of brilliant efforts by Loras College freshmen Jaclyn Tumberger pushed the #4 ranked and top-seeded Duhawks into the IIAC Tournament Championship. Loras controlled much of the 2-0 win along the way.

It took just 3:34 of game time for Tumberger to strike the Norse defense. Her first effort was the direct result of a great combination between Kate Young and Jessica Kern at the top of the box freed up Tumberger to receive a pass and knock it past Elisabeth Haager.

The second 45 minutes yielded a second goal for Tumberger, who used her head to beat the Luther corner kick defense for the encore in the 61st minute. Jessica Kern earned her second assist when her corner kick found Tumberger on the back post for a header down towards Haager's feet - which proved too awkward to handle.

Katie Chambers saw some action in front of her, but most Luther efforts were blocked or deflected before they reached the Loras goal and the majority of her touches came from through passes that she controlled or crosses that she held.

The win sets up a rematch with the Wartburg Knights who Loras defeated 3-1 in late September in Waverly.

Kickoff will be at 4:30 PM in the Rock Bowl and the game can been viewed live online at GameCentral in the lower right hand corner of duhawks.com. Loras upped their overall record to 19-1 with the win.
