The Loras College football team dropped their fifth game of 2010 and fourth in the Iowa Conference on Saturday in Cedar Rapids to 16th-ranked Coe College, 34-6.

The Duhawks mounted a late 75-yard drive capped off by a 10-yard touchdown pass to Matt Hillard to break up the shutout bid by the host Kohawks. Hillard accounted for a 23-yard run earlier in the drive and earned his team high seventh touchdown of the year overall and first from quarterback Vaughn Gesing in the passing game.

Hillard rushed for a total of 96 yards on the day on 22 carries. He is averaging 58.5 yards per game and 5.2 yards per carry in 2010. Gesing eclipsed the 200 yards passing mark for the first time since the season opener. Gesing finished Saturday's game 18-for-33 for 219 yards. It was also Gesing's first game without and interception since the September 4 game versus Elmhurst. John Ingersoll and Walt Labuz each caught 60+ yards worth of Gesing passes on a combined nine catches.

Coe pushed their way to a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, 21-0 lead at halftime, and 28-0 lead to start the fourth quarter. The Kohawks posted 464 total yards and quarterback Brad Boyle scored twice on the ground and threw two long touchdown passes on the afternoon to lead Coe in the win. Tailback Brenda Leiran also rushed the ball 22 times on Saturday and totaled 128 yards on the ground.

The Duhawks will return home for their final two games of 2010. The Duhawks have moved up the November 6 kickoff against Cornell to 12:00 noon in the Rock Bowl. Senior Day will be November 13 against Luther at 1:00 PM.
