Bonilla nets GWG in 69th minute

The Loras College men's soccer team defeated the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, 1-0 on Tuesday night. The Duhawks earned their third straight road win and second straight 1-0 decision by defeated the Pioneers.

Senior Miguel Bonilla drove home the game-winning goal in the 69th minute off an Alejandro Cosmopolis feed. The Duhawks built up a solid attack and Bonilla entertained the 300 fans in attendance with an All-American quality finish to claim his team-high fourth goal of the year. Cosmopolis' assist was the first point of his Loras career in his fifth game in a Duhawk uniform.

The Duhawks held a +3 margin in the total shots category, with eight of their 13 coming in the final 45 minutes. Loras needed three saves from Dan Wickman to preserve the shutout and earn the win.

Loras had previously played to two draws with the Pioneers in 2008 (shortened by storms) and 2009.

Loras will next travel to Waverly, Iowa to take on the Wartburg Knights on Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Loras and Wartburg split last year's two meetings, with the Duhawks winning the regular season contest in the Rock Bowl, 2-0 and the Knights winning the IIAC Tournament title game 2-1 in 2OT, also in the Rock Bowl.
