The Loras College men's soccer team is back in the win column after a 4-1 road win over the Augustana Vikings. The win over the Vikings comes three days before the Duhawks open Iowa Conference play on Saturday.

The Duhawks outshot Augustana 15-9 on their way to their fourth win of 2010. Over half were on goal and forced the Vikings defense and goalkeeper to be ready throughout the game.

A total of 25 players saw action during the game - which included six shots and one save by Dylan Milkent in the goal during the second half.

McCord opened the scoring with a header over the top of Vikings goalkeeper Tyler Cowherd. Miguel Bonilla sent a bending right-footed shot over the top of Cowherd less than three minutes later to make it 2-0 in favor of the visitors.

After a Loras miscue cut the lead in half in the 33rd minute, Chris Comstock added a free kick to extend the lead back to two goals heading into the intermission.

Brad Joiner closed out the scoring with the game's only tally of the second half in the 49th minute.

"I thought we did some good things to take control of the game early," head coach Dan Rothert said. "The guys really worked hard to get us the result we wanted heading into the start of conference play on Saturday."

The Duhawks open with Luther College (3-2-1, 0-0) on Saturday. The Norse were 5-3 in the league a year ago - good for fourth place. Kickoff is 1:00 PM in the Rock Bowl.
