The Loras College women's soccer team fell in their season opener to the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees on Tuesday afternoon in Davenport, Iowa. Loras fell behind 1-0 after the Bees struck first in the 38th minute as halftime neared. The one goal lead held up until the 71st minute when Holly Wilson scored Loras' first goal of 2009 on a Jessica Kern assist.
Just six minutes later the Bees were back on top when Amelia Horras netted the game winner for St. Ambrose. The Bees added a late tally to extend the margin of victory to two goals. Two of St. Ambrose's three goals came from substitutes.
Katie Chambers recorded six saves in her first start in goal for the Duhawks.
