Joe Leibfried hadn't played the course at Thunder Hills Country Club in a while. Leibfried had been away in Arizona looking to start a professional life in the golf world for a while. His return to the course early this week turned out to be a memorable one.

Leibfried shot matching rounds of 74 on Sunday and Monday to claim victory at the Clarke University Fall Invitational.

"It was a solid two days for me," said Leibfried on Monday night. "I was just really consistent both days, and the weather was pretty cooperative - which always helps - and this is one of my favorite courses."

Leibfried's second round on Monday included birdies on three of the last four holes and a two-stroke penalty, making him a bit uneasy about where he would finish on the leaderboard.

"I knew I had to sort out the hazard and drop I took," Leibfried admitted, "but I felt good about how I played overall and figured I had put myself in a pretty good spot."

Leibfried was also happy with the team's result - noting that sophomore Sam Herrmann also posted a 74 on Monday to finish 10th and that the Duhawks took 18 shots off their team score from Sunday to Monday.

The Duhawks will be at Eagle Ridge this weekend at the University of Dubuque Open on Saturday and Sunday.
