Rothert to serve on NCAA Soccer Committee
Tue, May. 25, 2010 - [Men's Soccer]

Earlier this month Loras College head men's and women's soccer coach Dan Rothert was named to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Men's Soccer Committee.

As the NCAA North Region's representative, Rothert will serve a four year term, working with the other seven members of the committee to select and set the brackets for the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament and Championship, represent the committee during the tournament competitions, and assist in the execution of the Final Four.

"I am excited to serve on the NCAA men's soccer committee," Rothert said recently. "Having had the fortune of coaching teams in the NCAA tournament over the years and competing for championships, I have seen all the hard work that goes into not only NCAA selections, but in making sure that the Championships are a first class event for everyone involved."

In 12 seasons managing the men's and women's rosters for the Duhawks, Rothert has won 352 games (181 men and 171 women) and taken 12 teams to the NCAA Tournament. Among those Loras teams were two trips to the Final Four with the men's team in 2007 and 2008. Loras' all time record in the NCAA Tournament, men and women, is 15-11-2.

"It is quite a process and for all that has been done for out teams over the years here at Loras, I want to give back and continue to help the NCAA Division III soccer experience and event that will be full of wonderful memories for all those involved, especially the student-athletes," Rothert added.

The Duhawks have hosted five weekends of NCAA Division III Soccer Championships since 2003 - in 2003 and 2004 with the women's team at Faber-Clarke Field and each of the last three seasons in the Rock Bowl with the men's team, including two weekends of Sectionals.

The 2010 Loras seasons open on September 1 with a pair of home games against St. Ambrose. The women will kick off at 6:00 pm and the men will follow at approximately 8:00 pm.
