McNally, Weiss wins lead Loras to fifth place at IIAC Championships

The Loras College women's track and field team scored 93 team points in their fifth place finish at the 2010 Iowa Conference Championships in Storm Lake, Iowa over the weekend. Among the top point scorers were Danielle McNally and Hannah Weiss, who won events for the Duhawks.

Weiss ran the 800 in 2:13.35 to win the event and was also second in the 1500 (4:37.82). McNally won the Hammer Throw with an impressive 162'-03". The distance was nine feet better than the runner up, her Loras teammate Heidi Tobin, who posted a 153'-04" throw.

Barb Kremer also turned in more solid performances at this year's meet. The senior was second in the Long Jump (17'-6.75") and third in the 100 Meter Hurdles (0:14.82).

Two other Duhawks had runner up finishes. Bridget McQuillan was second in the Pole Vault (9'-6.25") and Laura Rieger followed Weiss to the line in the 800 in 2:13.67.

The Duhawks will compete in select Last Chance meets leading up to the May 27-29 Championships in Berea, Ohio.
