Duhawks fifth at IIAC Championships

The Loras College men's track and field team finished fifth at the 2010 Iowa Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday. Led by three individual event winners - Cody Dreyer, Elliot McAllister, and Chris Swift - Loras was smack in the middle of the nine team league standings. In addition to the three event winners, four other events posted All-Conference finishes.

Elliot McAllister's 171'-1" toss in the Hammer Throw earned the Duhawks ten team points. Chris Swift's 0:53.47 in the 400 Meter Hurdles and Cody Dreyer's 3:59.19 in the 1500 did the same. The trio accounted for 30 of the 86 team points Loras accumulated over the weekend.

Another All-Conference performer and team point scorer was the runner-up 4x100 Relay team of Austin Arthofer, Chris Swift, Ryan Seymour, and Sean Lewis 0:42.36). In addition, Mike Higgins was third in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase (9:51.20), Blade Westaby went 13'-11.25" in the Pole Vault to finish third, and the 4x400 Meter Relay team of Chris Swift, Brandon Hosley, Sean Lewis, and Scott Schemmel sprinted their way to a 3:19.77 third place finish.

The Duhawks will compete in select Last Chance meets leading up to the May 27-29 Championships in Berea, Ohio.
