The Loras College men's golf team posted a fifth place finish at their annual home event earlier this week. The two-day event included gloomy and soggy rounds at Thunder Hills and The Meadows in nearby Peosta and Asbury, Iowa.

Freshman Sam Herrmann was the only Duhawk to post two rounds in the seventies and finished tied for fifth place with his 73-77/150. Noel Frideres followed with a t-16th (73-84/157), Andrew Schroeder carded a t-19th (77-81/158), and Mark Dolphin finished with a 163, good for a top 25 finish. Steve Stark rounded out the top Duhawk teams' scores with a 165.

Kyle Domeyer and Beau Brandt led the "Gold" and "Purple" squads with matching 84-80/164s.

UW-Stout took the team title with the only team score under 600 (597), eight shots better than runner up Luther. Stout was led by medalist Derek Holmes, who posted the tournament's only round in the 60's, an opening round 69 on Day 1 at Thunder Hills. He was four shots better than the runner up.

Loras will travel to Waverly, Iowa for the Wartburg Invitational this weekend.
