Women's Track & Field takes third at IIAC Indoor Championships

IIAC Championships RESULTS

The Loras College women's track and field team finished third at the Iowa Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend with 89 team points. Top performances came from Molly Sieverding, Mary Bridget Corken, Genna Kinley, Bridget McQuillan, Barb Kremer, Heidi Tobin, Meggen Elsen, and Steph Schadl.

Sieverding competed in the 55 meter dash and 200 meter dash finishing 6th and 9th place respectively. Her :07.50 in the 55 Meter Run is the eighth fastest time in Loras history and her 27.00 is the ninth all-time fastest time. Kinley ran the 5000 Meter Run in 19:25.89 for a 12th place finish and a #10 all-time Loras record. Corken earned 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the Mile Run (5:11.68) and 3000 Meter Run (10:28.35). McQuillan landed in first place with a ten foot leap in the Pole Vault which put her in the #4 spot for all-time Loras rankings. Kremer landed a 17'9" jump in the Long Jump for a 1st place conference finish and a #2 spot in the Loras record books. Tobin came in 2nd place with a 15.02 meter Weight Throw; she is now #7 on Loras all-time throws. Elsen will go in the record books right after Tobin with a 14.01 meter Weight Throw for a 6th place overall finish. Schadl set the school record in the Pentathlon with 2,458 points and a 10th place conference finish. The 4x800 team of Tara Kilburg, Maria Kalb, Katie Flogel and Kelsey Kruse came in 4th place and earned a #4 all-time Loras record in 9:53.26. The Distance Medley team of Hannah Weiss, Laura Reiger, Kilburg and Corken finished in 3rd place in 12:23.10 and are number three on the all-time list.

Corken, McQuillan, Kremer, Tobin, and the Distance Medley Relay team earned All-Iowa Conference honors with their top three finishes. Kremer's hurdle time of 8.35 improved her mark on the National list; she is now 7th in the country. Corken (1 mile, 5:01.26), Kremer (55m H, 8.35) and Danielle McNally (Wt. Throw, 16.07m) have each qualified for nationals, March 12-13 at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN.

Loras will participate in a handful of Last Chance meets before the March 12-13 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. The Duhawks will begin the 2010 outdoor season on March 27 in Memphis, TN at the Rhodes Invitational.
