The Loras College Department of Athletics have finished resurfacing the outdoor tennis courts. The five courts located at the intersection of Cox Street and 17th Street were resurfaced with purple and gray coloring.
The move will allow the teams to return to campus for their home dates. In the recent past the women's team had competed locally at Wahlert High School and the men's team at Eagle Point Park.
"We can simply focus on tennis and supporting out teammates (without having to worry about traveling in town)," head women's tennis coach Karl Stubben said about the newest project on Monday.
"If it gets us bigger crowds at home meets, that is a huge benefit as well."
When asked about the role the new surface will play in the men's and women's tennis programs Stubben added, "We've always had competitive teams despite the conditions of the courts, and now we're on a level playing field and expect everything to improve. I'd also like to thank everyone who stepped up and made this happen. It is great to know that the tennis programs at Loras have these kind of willing supporters out there. It is refreshing."
