The Loras College Women's Lacrosse team opened the programs second season on the road this past weekend in Minneapolis.

The Duhawks were tested early with games against Augsburg College and Midland University.

Back-to-back contests against two physical teams ran down the small Duhawk roster. Unable to keep up with the physically demanding games, Loras fell 20-5 against Augsburg and 20-8 against Midland.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Kutsch scored a team-high 11 goals on the weekend. The Dubuque native is overcoming two offseason compartment syndrome surgeries. She showed true perseverance this weekend battling through the games.

First –year's Anna Schwalbe and Hannah Nelson made their presence known as they each scored a goal for the Duhawks.

Another newcomer to the Duhawks squad, Claire Sheahan started her lacrosse career off well. The first-year goalkeeper posted a 49% save percentage for the weekend, including a remarkable 59% save percentage against Midland.

Second year Head Coach, Emily Goetz was happy with what she saw from her team.

"I saw a lot of good things that the team will build on and use for momentum for out next game" Goetz said.

The Duhawks hit the road as they travel to Illinois Tech for the next contest on Saturday, March 8th.
