The Loras College softball team has had a solid offseason. The Duhawks are looking forward to when all the snow clears and they are able to get on the diamond.

Coach Ashley Winter said, "I am really pleased with our teamwork and team chemistry.  Our returners are doing a great job of teaching our newcomers." The Duhawks are led by great upperclassmen including Alaina RigdonLara MangialardiNora ZeranteHolly Klein, and Katie Serpico. Serpico was named to the All-IIAC second team last year. She led the Duhawks hitting .355 with 18 RBI.

The Duhawks lost a four time All-IIAC player in Kellie Klein, which definitely is a large void to fill. They also will have some turnover in their middle infield positions. This does not frighten Coach Winter's though. "We are excited to see which players step up to fill these roles," said Winters.

The Duhawks welcome seven freshmen and a sophomore transfer to the team. This strong incoming class has impressed Coach Winters with their softball knowledge. "Each one of them will have an important role on our team," she stated.

The Duhawks start their season at the Rochester Dome in Rochester, MN on March 1st. These will provide great competition for the Duhawks as they prepare for a tough conference schedule in the IIAC. Look forward to hearing good things out of the Loras College softball team this spring.
