The Loras College women's basketball team fell to 11-13, 6-9 in the Iowa Conference on Wednesday after losing to Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, 64-50.

The Duhawks were led by Alex Hudson on Wednesday. Hudson scored 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting and made three three-pointers and pulled down eight rebounds, including five on the offensive end. She also added two assists and a steal in 24 minutes of action.

Following Hudson in the scoring column were Sarah Pillon with nine points and Lindsay Bava with five. Four players posted four point nights. Bava added eight rebounds and Lisa Morrissey handed out four assists.

The Knights had four players in double figures and none with more than 12 points. Katie Zittergruen posted the dozen points and Leslie Wilson added 11 points and nine rebounds.

Loras committed 13 first half turnovers and just four in the second half and forced Wartburg into 18. The Duhawks won the rebounding battle 40-38, but struggled to make close-range shots all night and finished shooting just 33% from the field. They didn't help themselves from the free throw line where they are usually among the league's leaders, making just 5-of-15 attempts from the charity stripe. Their 50 point output was a season low for the Duhawks in 2009-10.

The Duhawks close the regular season on Saturday when they host Luther for Senior Day. Tipoff is 2:00 PM and is the second of two WBCA/Pinkzone games.

Loras is locked into the #6 spot in next week's IIAC Tournament and after the remainder of Wednesday's games went final, the Knights learned they will finish in the third slot. The two teams will meet again at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 23rd in Waverly in the opening round of the league tournament.
