Women's Cross Country Team Earns Academic Awards

The Loras College Women's Cross Country team earned a spot on the 2013 Division III Cross Country All-Academic list. Teams must finish with a total of 3.1 GPA or better. The Duhawks earned a 3.37 GPA as a team.


Duhawk cross country runners  Mary RectorMaggie Saenz-Ruiz, and Bri Cook were named Division III USTCCCA All-Academic honorees on Friday.


In order to be named, student-athletes must excel both on the course and in the classroom. Honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and finish among the top 25 percent at their regional championship.


As a senior, Rector led the Duhawks to an 8th place finish in the competitive Central Regional. She placed 100th at nationals this past fall. The Highland Park, Illinois sport science major boasts a 3.57 GPA.


Sophomore, Cook from Monticello, Iowa has a 3.88 GPA as a major in Biology. She was a consistant took five runner for the Duhawks throughout the year.


After a great freshman season, Saenz-Ruiz performed even better as a sophomore for Loras. She placed 120th at nationals this past fall, just behind Rector. Maggie is a sport science major from Bogota, Columbia with a 3.96 cumulative GPA.
