It was a memorable day at San Jose Pool inside the Graber Sports Center on Saturday. The Duhawk men's swimming and diving team edged the Luther Norse for the first time since 2004 on the team scoreboard, 116-107. The win meant a clean sweep through IIAC action in 2013-14.

The victory came as a result of seven individual wins and a victory final race of the night, the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.

Matt Bogen got things started for the Duhawks with his win in the 1,000 Freestyle. Michael Krol was less than three seconds behind to help the Loras point total. Bogen added a win in the 500 Freestyle. Ike Casey continued to win sprint races, taking titles in the 100 and 200 yard freestyle races. Zach Benson won twice; the 200 IM (by five seconds) and 200 Breaststroke (by 3+ seconds). John Maevski, who set a Loras record on the diving board earlier this season, dove unopposed - helping the Duhawks gain valuable points.

Loras added a huge win in the final event of the night, the 400 Freestyle Relay. Lance Scallon, Michael O'Toole, Tyler Beauchamp, and Ike Casey combined to swim a 3:21.14 and beat the Luther side team by three seconds to lock up the win.

On the women's side, Mary Kathyrn Maher's win in the 1000 Freestyle stood up as the only individual win on the night. She was also second in the 200 backstroke. Loras added a handful of second place finishes, but couldn't overcome the Norse's success in multiple events.

Loras and Luther combined to raise money on Saturday for the Susan G Komen Foundation. Both teams wore pink swim caps and fans contributed to a collection for the group.

The team will be at the University of Chicago Invitational next Saturday. They'll be back in the San Jose Pool one more time on January 24 at 7:00 PM for a triangular with Morningside and College of St. Mary.
