UW Stevens Point, 21 – Loras, 15

The Loras College wrestling team made their annual trip to LaCrosse, Wisconsin over the weekend for a 3-dual lineup against University of Wisconsin based schools. The matchups included two against fellow top-25 competition.

In the opener of the day for the Duhawks, it was the hosts who flexed their muscles in a convincing win. Steven DeWitt was Loras' lone winner. The hosts built a lead with pins, a technical fall, and a forfeit.

The second matchup of the day was Loras' win, over the Blugolds of UW-Eau Claire. Ronald Triche and Dearion Stokes won forfeits and Loras conceded six points of their own at 141-pounds (which they did all day). On the mat, wins came from DeWitt (pin), Ben Kindle (5-1 decision), Joe Butler (14-4 major decision), Mathian Palmersheim (4-2 decision), and Malcolm Watson (7-3 decision). Colin Griffin and Justin Alonzo took losses for the Duhawks.

The third matchup of the day was the #21 UW-Steven Point Pointers. The forfeit at 141-pounds was the difference in the end on the scoreboard, as Loras won the majority of the matches that were wrestled. Triche and Stokes started with decision victories at 125-pounds and 133-pounds. DeWitt then added his third win of the day. At 197-pounds, Malcolm Watson earned three points for the team with his 6-2 win. Justin Alonzo then added a win at heavyweight, 3-1, for another three points for Loras.

Next up for the Duhawks is their annual trip to the Dick Walker Invite in Waverly, Iowa on Saturday. They'll close the calendar year at Augustana for a dual on December 17 and the Gator Duals in Nashville, Tennessee on December 21.
