Westminster, 0

The Loras College men's soccer team is into the quarterfinals – the "Elite 8" – of the 2013 NCAA Division III tournament following their 2-0 home victory over the Westminster Blue Jays on Saturday night.

The Duhawks produced 11 shots on goal to Westminster's three on Saturday and Loras capitalized on one shot on goal in each half to claim the win. Alex Bradley opened the scoring in the 37th minute when he ran onto the end of a flighted pass from Kevin Cavers.  Bradley flicked a ball over an on-rushing Raul Romero to put the hosts in front.

Loras' second strike came from Tom Fluegel in the game's closing moments. Johnny Rummelhart turned the corner on the right side of the Blue Jays' goal and sent a low, quick pass across the face of the goal to an open Fluegel to tap it home. With just three minutes remaining to make something happen after Fluegel's goal, Westminster was unable to break up the shutout.

Dylan Milkent made one save in that late stretch and two others to earn the shutout. Bradley finished with seven total shots off the bench.

The win sent Loras into the national quarterfinals on Sunday. The Duhawks will play Trinity University at 5:00 PM. The Tigers defeated Wartburg, 2-1, in double overtime on Saturday night.
