The Duhawks finished 5th of 26 teams at the NCAA Division III Central Region Championship in Northfield, Minnesota on Saturday.

Regional host St. Olaf College led the field with 51 points. Familiar Iowa Conference foes Central and Luther finished second and third respectively. Carleton College finished one point ahead of Loras to fill out the top five.

Loras was led by sophomore Sam Whan who finished first for the Duhawks and 19th overall in 25:37. Not far behind was teammate Ty Wittman. Wittman tied a personal record, 25:43, while finishing 24th.

Steve Loran finished 27th overall with a time of 25:52 in the third spot for Loras.

Duhawk sophomore JP Sevcik shaved over ten seconds off of his previous best taking just 26:08 to finish the race. Just behind Sevcik was teammate Rob Howe (26:16) in 37th place.

Loras' fifth place finish matches their spot from a year ago. This year, their point total of 140 was 30 spots better than the 2012 total of 170. Whan was sixth for the Duhawks that day on the same St. Olaf course.
