The Loras College women's soccer team has reached the second round of the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship in Wheaton, Illinois after a 2-0 win over College of St. Benedict on Friday afternoon. Loras scored a goal in each half – both from the same Duhawk – Katie Truesdale

As the first half progressed, Loras began to shift the game in their direction, building a 10-2 shot advantage. Heather Kaluzniak made all seven of her saves in goal for the Blazers in the first half as Loras pushed for the game's opening goal. It finally came in the 38th minute.

After scooping up a lot of long passes forward by the Duhawks, Kaluzniak was forced to come get a loose ball off of her line. Katie Truesdale raced her to the ball and won the race, freeing up enough space to put a shot on the empty goal from a tough angle. Alone on the attack, shepushed her shot to the far post to give the Duhawks a 1-0 lead.

The Duhawks took the momentum and the lead into the halftime break and emerged in the second half with some more pressure. Eight minutes into the second half, Truesdale struck again. This time, Kristine Everding sent a pass near the penalty spot and Truesdale had room to get her head on the bouncing pass. Kaluzniak was unable to get a touch on the floating header and Loras doubled their lead.

The Blazers pushed to break up the shutout over the remaining half hour, but Hannah Wilson passed every test, including a few scrambles in front of her goal and breaking up challenges inside her 18-yard box. She finished with three official saves.

Truesdale scored her team-high 14th and 15th goals on Friday. She has now scored a goal in six straight game and has five game-winning goals this year.

The Duhawks advanced to play #4 Wheaton College (18-1-2) with the victory. The Thunder won 4-0 over Webster in their opening round game. Kickoff at Joe Bean Stadium is 1:30 PM central time and can be seen HERE
