The Loras College men's soccer team won their fourth straight Iowa Conference Tournament title on Saturday night, defeating the Wartburg Knights in overtime in the Rock Bowl in front of 800 fans. Sophomore Richard Lenke set off the celebration with his golden goal in the 100th minute.

The Duhawks took the first two shots of the game and the Knights followed with two of their own in the first 15 minutes as goalkeepers Dylan Milkent and Cade Shatzer each logged one save. As the first half progressed, the Duhawks opened a 10-3 shot advantage and took four corner kicks, one of which led to a pile of bodies in front of Shatzer, but no goal for the hosts.

The shot total was closer in the second half, but neither team cracked the scoreboard. Milkent made three saves, including one diving tip to preserve his shutout. Shatzer added two second half saves to his total, giving him five in regulation.

Loras turned to Richard Lenke in overtime for the game-winning goal. As the clock reached the final minute of the first overtime, Erik Berkowitz sent a long ball toward the Knight's 18-yard box. An errant clearing attempt off the head of a Wartburg defender fell into Lenke's path. The sophomore did the rest, winning a footrace to the loose ball and heading it into the side of the Wartburg goal. The victory set off another "Rock Bowl Leap" in the student section. Lenke put his own twist on the leap by tearing off his jersey en route to the awaiting fans.

The win also marked #500 in the coaching career of head men's and women's soccer coach Dan Rothert. Earlier in the day, the women's team won #499 over Dubuque. Lenke's goal made it 500 between the two teams. Rothert first took over the programs in 1998.

On Monday afternoon, Loras (17-1-2) learned their destination along with the rest of the automatic qualifiers. The Duhawks were awarded an opening round bye in the regional round and will host a regional final (second round) game on Sunday afternoon. Fellow IIAC member Luther College is in Lake Forest, Illinois to take on Lake Forest College on Thursday afternoon. The winner will be in the Rock Bowl for a 1:00 PM kickoff on Sunday.
