#25 Loras, 2

Dubuque, 0

The Loras College women's soccer team won their fourth straight IIAC title on Saturday night with a 2-0 win over the University of Dubuque Spartans. Katie Truesdale and Madeline Tennant scored the Duhawk goals in the first half.

Goalkeepers Hannah Wilson and Tiffany Duncan each made a save over the first 13 minutes ahead of the game's opening goal. Lynn DeVriese took a hard shot that Duncan couldn't hold and Truesdale found herself just steps from the goal line but facing the penalty spot and able to take a touch. She pushed the ball over her shoulder and past Duncan to make it 1-0.

A similar scrum took place 20 minutes later when Madie Avery forced a save from Duncan. This time it was Madeline Tennant who knocked in the loose ball to double the lead.

Dubuque threatened in the first ten minutes of the second half and forced the Duhawks to save a ball off their line following their first corner kick of the second half. Kinsey Campbell stuck a leg up to get the headed shot out of trouble. The Duhawks  forced Duncan into two more saves and even hit the crossbar in the game's closing moments to earn the victory.

The victory extended their unbeaten streak against IIAC competition to 42 games (40-0-2) dating back to 2009. The win was #499 of head men's and women's coach Dan Rothert's career with the two programs. Just a few short hours later, he won his 500th game in charge of the Duhawks when the men defeated Wartburg in overtime. Rothert first took over the program in 1998.

On Monday, the team learned of their destination for the regional rounds of the NCAA Division III Championship. The Duhawks will play in a Friday-Saturday pod in Wheaton, Illinois at Wheaton College. Loras takes on College of St. Benedict at 1:30 PM. The host Thunder play Webster at 11:00 AM. The regional final is set for 1:30 PM on Saturday.
