#10 Loras, 1

Simpson, 0

It wasn't always pretty, but the Loras College men's soccer team knocked off Simpson College in the Rock Bowl for the second time this season to advance to the IIAC Tournament championship game.

The Duhawks doubled up the Storm's shot total, but each team recorded seven saves at the goalkeeper position. Dylan Milkent made two key saves in the first half, including a one-handed diving save on a header from a Storm corner kick. Simpson split goalkeeper duties. Luke Aronow made three saves in the first half and Zach McEntee made three more in the second half. The Storm also saved a ball off the line.

Erik Berkowitz headed home the game-winner in the 34th minute for the Duhawks. An Alex Bradley corner kick found a Duhawk on the back post, but the initial effort bounced off the crossbar and in front of the Storm goal. Berkowitz was waiting on the doorstep to head it home.

Loras took the lead into the locker room at halftime and came out in the second half with a steady back line and a few more chances. The closest of the second half chances was Tim van den Bergh's shot that rattled the crossbar just before the hour mark.

The victory for Loras puts them in the Iowa Conference championship game for the 11th straight season. The Duhawks will play Wartburg in the title game for the first time since 2010. The teams met for the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship every year from 2003-2010. The second-seeded Knights converted a penalty kick in double overtime to defeat the Luther Norse. Kickoff on Saturday is 7:30 PM.
