The Loras College women's swimming and diving team is off to a 2-0 start and is 1-0 in the Iowa Conference following Friday night's win over Coe College. Last weekend, they opened with a win over Ripon.

Against the Ripon team, Lexie Mollahan led the way. The junior contributed to the 200 Medley Relay team that posted the best time and added individual wins in the 200 Individual Medley (by over six seconds) and added a win in the 100 Breaststroke over teammate Clare Ehlbeck (by three seconds).

Joining Mollahan on the winning Medley Relay team were Marguerite DelVecchio, Logan Miller, and Renee Beach.

Other Duhawks winning multiple events included newcomer Mary Kathryn Maher (200 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke), Jillyn Gerken (50 & 100 Freestyle), and Elise Amo (1,000 & 500 Freestyle).

Mollahan earned the first IIAC Swimmer of the Week award for her efforts against Ripon.

In Cedar Rapids on Friday night, the team started 1-0 in the Iowa Conference with a closely contested win over Coe College. Mollahan added wins in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke to go with her second place finish in the 100 Freestyle against the Kohawks.

Mary Kathryn Maher had another two-win night to help Loras into the win column. A junior from Decorah, Maher won titles in the 200 IM, the 100 Backstroke, and was a part of the runner-up 200 Freestyle Relay team.

Katie Callaghan added a win in the 100 Butterfly. The event started with a healthy win by the Duhawks in the Medley Relay as well (DelVecchio/Ehlbeck/Callaghan/Gerken).

The Duhawks will host Augustana in the San Jose Pool on November 8 in their next event.
