The Loras College men's swimming and diving team is off to a 2-0 start and is 1-0 in the Iowa Conference following Friday night's win over Coe College. Last weekend, they opened with a win over Ripon.

Against the Ripon team, Zach Benson provided a large portion of Loras' points by winning all three events he swam in. Benson claimed titles in the 200 IM (by seven seconds), the 100 Butterfly (by less than one second), and the 100 Breaststroke (by over 1.5 seconds).

Ike Casey added a pair of wins in the 100 and 200 yard Freestyle events. Also winning titles for the Duhawks were Michael Krol in the 1,000 Freestyle, Lance Scallon in the 100 Backstroke, and Matt Bogen in the 500 Freestyle. Loras also won the 200 Freestyle Relay with Casey, Bogen, Michael O'Toole, and Grant Duncan.

For his efforts against Ripon, Benson earned the first IIAC Male Swimmer of the Week honors of the season.

Loras followed with another solid performance and convincing win on Friday against Coe College in Cedar Rapids. The Duhawks won all but one event and as a result, moved to 1-0 in Iowa Conference action.

In the relays, Tyler Beauchamp contributed to wins in both the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay and the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Joining him on the medley victory were Benson, Matt DeWane, and Grant Duncan. The freestyle victory came with the help of Scallon, O'Toole, and Casey.

Individually, Krol won his second 1,000 Freestyle race in as many tries and added a 500 Yard title as well. Matt Bogen, Michael O'Toole, and Ike Casey won the remaining freestyle events.

Benson won the 100 Yard Butterfly and 100 Breaststroke, and Tyler Beauchamp added a win in the 100 Backstroke.

John Maevski added a win on the diving board for Loras.

The Duhawks will host Augustana in the San Jose Pool on November 8 in their next event.
