The Loras College women's soccer team is alone atop the Iowa Conference standings following a 7-0 run through conference play. It concluded on Tuesday as the team locked up the #1 seed for the upcoming Iowa Conference Tournament with wins over Coe and Central.

Loras, 3

Coe, 0

Madeline Tennant, Katie Truesdale, and Danielle Vujovic each scored first half goals to put the Duhawks in front early over the Kohawks. Loras was in control throughout the match and didn't allow a single shot to the Kohawks. All 33 players in uniform saw action in the game. Loras took 20 shots on the day and forced Kohawk goalkeeper Kaylee Weems into 10 saves.

The senior class was honored at halftime of their final regular season home game. The families of Jackie Tumberger, Maddie Tennant, Megan Kittleson, Lynn DeVriese, Sarah Trump, Kinsey Campbell, and Frankie Mosca joined their daughters in a brief celebration.

The win put the Duhawks at 6-0 ahead of the regular season finale in Pella, Iowa against the Central College Dutch on Tuesday. They had mathematically locked up the regular season Iowa Conference title with the victory, but were looking to remain perfect in IIAC competition in the finale.

The Duhawks struck early and often again in Pella, and in doing so set themselves up for a historic run through the Iowa Conference.

Lynn DeVriese opened the scoring in the 11th minute when she made her way to a loose ball in the box for to give the Duhawks a one goal lead. Just 17 seconds later, Danielle Vujovic was on the receiving end of a Madeline Tennant pass to make it 2-0 and put the Dutch on their heels. Two minutes after she scored her goal to tie Katie Truesdale for the team lead with 10 goals, Vujovic connected with Truesdale for her 11th to make it 3-0.

The Dutch responded to Loras' flurry of goals with one of their own in the 15th minute to stay within two goals. That concession broke a stretch of 219 minutes of shutout soccer by the Duhawks – their longest such streak since the first three games of the season.

The Duhawks added another goal in the second half when Ailish Rispin delivered her seventh goal of the year on assists from Truesdale and Vujovic.

The 4-1 victory meant the senior class went a near-perfect 29-0-1 in Iowa Conference regular season games during their careers and the program has gone 1,470 days since their last loss in league play in late 2009. The regular season title was the fourth in a row for the Duhawks and ninth in program history.

Loras is the #1 seed for next week's IIAC Tournament. The opening round begins this Saturday and Loras' semifinal match will be in the Rock Bowl on November 6. They'll take on the winner of the #4/#5 match between Central and Wartburg. Details on the tournament are available HERE.
