The Loras College Volleyball team won an exciting match on the road on Wednesday night at Buena Vista University, 3-2. After falling behind in the first two games, the Duhawks rallied to win the last three sets for the road victory. The win advanced the Duhawks to 4-2 in Iowa Conference play.

The first set for the Duhawks was not what they had hoped after the long bus ride to Storm Lake. The Beavers put down 15 kills, three more than the Duhawks' 12 in the first set. The small margin was enough to give the Beavers the 25-21 win. The second set was closer but the Beavers were able to best the Duhawks again with a score of 25-22. The Duhawks picked up their momentum in the third game to win 25-18 and went on to win the remaining two sets as well (25-14, 15-11). The fifth and final set was close throughout the frame – the Duhawks pulled away in the final few points and forced the Beavers to use their timeouts as the lead slowly grew.

Tara Blake led the offense putting down 17 kills followed by Danielle Kennedy with 16 kills. Liz Jendra and Meghan Beauchamp also helped the Duhawks at the net with eight and four kills respectively. Shawn Reilly held the offense together with 45 assists for the night thanks to strong passing in the back court. Blake led the defense with 15 digs followed by Christa Winders with 11.

The Duhawks improved to 12-13 overall and remain third in Iowa Conference standings. They've guaranteed themselves a home opening round IIAC Tournament match on November 5 with the vicotory.

The Duhawks travel to Decatur, Illinois this weekend for the Millikin Classic where they will play four matches over Friday and Saturday.
