Duhawks win second road IIAC match

After a tough 1-3 weekend on the road in the Wisconsin Dells, the Duhawks came back firing at Luther College Tuesday night.  After holding leads in each set, Loras beat the Norse 3-1 in Decorah, Iowa.  


In the first set, Loras opened a six-point lead but could not finish the set and lost, 25-23. The second set seemed to be following the trail of the first with Loras up 23-15, but the Duhawks held on to win 25-23.  The third set was similarly close again, as Luther trailed 17-20, rallied to tie the set at 22-22, and then the Duhawks were able to bring it to a close at 27-25. Loras closed out the road win by winning the fourth set – the third straight on the night, with another narrow victory at 25-22.  


Kara Grant and Tara Blake both led the Duhawks in kills with 13. Danielle Kennedy followed up with eight.  Shawn Rielly sent up 32 assists and Christa Winders, Blake, Rielly and Christina Angeli combined defensively for 42 of the Duhawks' 57 digs. 


The Duhawks improved to 8-10 overall and 2-1 in the Iowa Conference.


Loras will face Coe College on October 9th in the AWC.
