Duhawks finish 5th at Augustana

The Loras College women's cross country team finished fifth at Augustana College's Brissman/Lundeen Invitational on Friday evening. Loras had three runners finish in the top 25 individual places. The field included 33 teams and 415 runners. 


Mary Rector posted the second best time in Loras women's cross country history when she reached the finish line in third place in 22:14.


Just eleven seconds behind Rector's pace was Maggie Saenz Ruiz. The sophomore finished fifth. Loras' other top-25 finish came from Brianne Cook, who needed 23:24 to complete the Rock Island course.


Rounding out Loras' scoring slots were Becky Hilby and Bridget Hall, who finished 53rd and 65th. Kellie Wagner did not compete this weekend, who has been a regular in the top five, did not compete this weekend.


Next up for the team is a trip to the course where the national championships will be held. The Duhawks will be in Hanover, Indiana for a 10:00 am start at Hanover College on October 5.
