Duhawks finish 3rd at Augustana

The Loras College men's cross country team continued their solid start to the 2013 season with a third place finish (110 points) at Augustana College's Brissman/Lundeen Invitational on Friday evening. The field included 35 teams and 491 runners. 


Sam Whan was once again first to the finish line for Loras. He ran a PR time of 25:36 to lead the Duhawks and finished in ninth place. Steve Loran, Ty Wittman, Rob Howe, and JP Sevcik were the other point-scorers for the Duhawks.


Loran and Wittman were just steps behind Whan in 12th and 15th place (25:38 and 25:42). Howe was 24th in 26:06 and Sevcik was 50th in 26:30.


Loras' 110-point finish was just nine points behind the nationally ranked Augustana Vikings and the Duhawks finished  38 points ahead of #31 UW-Stevens Point.


Next up for the team is a trip to the course where the national championships will be held. The Duhawks will be in Hanover, Indiana for a 10:00 am start at Hanover College on October 5.
