After struggling to find the win column in some close matches over the weekend in Minnesota, the Loras College volleyball team rebounded quickly to claim a 3-set sweep over the University of Dubuque on Wednesday night. The win came on the Spartans home floor and puts the team at 1-0 in the Iowa Conference.

The team came together for their third road win of the season thanks in part to Shawn Rielly's 31 assists and a double-double from freshman Tara Blake.

Rielly sent up an average of ten assists per set on Wednesday night – most of which went to Blake and Liz Jendra. The duo each put down 11 kills to lead the offense and Rielly threw in six of her own for 28 of the team's 43 kills. Blake's 14 digs were a team high as well. Christa Winders and Courtney Boyd also reached double digits in digs, while Christina Angeli added nine.

Rielly and Boyd each added two aces.

Loras hit .163 on the night to Dubuque's .114.

The Duhawks now have the weekend off before they play their first home match of 2013. The IIAC favorites and nationally ranked Wartburg College Knights come to the AWC on September 24. The teams also met in last year's IIAC Tournament Championship match in Waverly.
