Loras, 5

Buena Vista, 4

The Loras College women's tennis team had a string of three straight home matches against Iowa Conference competition over the last weekend and emerged 2-1 after the dust settled.

Loras split with Simpson and Central a week ago, defeating the Storm and losing to Central. The win snapped a long stretch of winless competition in Iowa Conference play. Loras won two doubles matches and three singles matches on the way to the win. Elizabeth and Jessica Dickhut and Est Mungai each went 2-0 against the Storm, winning their singles matches to go along with their doubles wins. Mungai paired with Rebecca Weglarz for her doubles win and swept her singles opponent 6-0, 6-0 in a pivotal match for that win.

This Saturday, it was Buena Vista who made the trip across the state to take on the Duhawks. Loras win four singles matches and one doubles match to claim another 5-4 win.

The Dickhut sisters once again joined forces for the doubles victory over the Beavers, this time an 8-6 score line from the #1 doubles slot. In singles matches, Elizabeth won in her #1 spot, 6-0 and 6-0. Jessica won at #2 singles, 6-1 and 6-3.

Caroline Rainey (#3) and Carrie Crabill (#4) followed suit with wins as well. Crabill battled through the closest individual contest on a day when one match was the difference in the team score. She dropped the first set 4-6 before bouncing back to win the second set 6-3. The tiebreaking set went to Crabill, 6-2, to help Loras back into the win column.

The Duhawks' next test is in Decorah tomorrow. Loras will take on the Luther College Norse at 4:00 PM.
