Under fifth year head coach Bob Schultz (Loras, Class of 1994, MA), the men's team is looking to continue their climb toward the top of the Iowa Conference and the NCAA Central Region in 2009. The 2009 men's team have some big shoes to fill with the loss of their top 4 runners.

MEN - Despite losing four of their top seven runners, the Duhawk men are looking to continue their rise to the top after their highest finish under coach Bob Schultz with a 2nd place finish in the Iowa Conference Championship in 2008.  They also moved up from 13th in the NCAA Central Region in 2007 to provisionally qualifying for the Championships with a 5th place finish in 2008.  Loras was the most improved team in the region and was also the top finishing Iowa Conference school in the region.  The men finished the 2008 season ranked 37th in the Nation.  Top returning runners for Loras are senior Tyler Meyer, junior Mark Sulkin and sophomore Dan McDermott.  Other seasoned returners looking to compete for varsity spots are seniors Mike Higgins and Dan Murphy, juniors Ryan Engelman, Tom Henders and Dain Leytem and sophomore Ted Wittman.  Along with the returners, Loras boasts a strong freshman class that includes Grant Luense, Tyson Squiers and Austin Steil, all of whom ran in the state championship last fall and Joe Hughes a JV member of Nike Team National Runner-up York H.S.
